Broach Sharpening Analyzer

Reduce your cost and extend your broach's life with PECo's Broach Sharpening Analyzer. By allowing you to accurately assess the smallest amount of material that needs to be removed to return your broach to its "sharpened" condition, the Broach Sharpening Analyzer enables you to remove no more than is absolutely necessary – extending the broach's useful life, reducing your sharpening costs and postponing the purchase of replacement broaches.

 

Operating Principle

The Broach Sharpening Analyzer allow the operator to visually inspect the cutting teeth of round broach bars to see individual tooth wear limits and determine how much grinding stock must be removed for "clean up" of the cutting faces of the broach teeth. This takes the "guess work" out of stock removal, yielding extended broach life.

 

The camera system will capture the tooth image, magnify it and project it on a monitor for visual inspection. The operator will move the "X" axis carriage to align the edge of the tooth to the cross hair on the monitor. The operator will then manually reset the "X" axis digital readout to zero, and move the carriage to align the cross hair with the good portion of the tooth, or the portion of the tooth which is not dull or chipped. The operator will then manually record this value and continue checking various teeth on the broach to determine the amount of stock removal required to sharpen the broach.

 

The Broach Sharpening Analyzer is equipped with live centers that can handle broaches up to 98" long and up to 8" in diameter. The centers are adjustable from 100" to 0".
